Who we are
ORTOO is operated by ORTOO Management Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17409003), registered office Luminous House C/O Grip Business, 300 South Row, Milton Keynes, England, MK9 2FR. We connect people who want delivery van driving work with delivery companies looking for drivers in their area. For anything in this notice, email hello@ortoo.co.uk.
What we collect
When you register, we collect:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Your postcode, so we know which region you are in
- Your answers to a few eligibility questions, stored as simple bands only. For example whether you hold a full UK licence, whether you meet the age requirement for the roles on offer (18 or over for most), and your availability
- With your consent, which advert brought you here. If you clicked a Google ad we keep the click reference, the campaign and the search term with your registration, so we can see which adverts actually find people work. Delivery companies never see this, and it goes when your details go
We deliberately don't collect licence numbers, licence photos, penalty points or criminal record information. The eligibility answers are yes/no flags and simple bands, nothing more.
Texts and emails we send you
We text you a code to confirm your number when you register, and a reminder if you haven't confirmed it yet. We email you once to say you are registered, with a link to confirm that email address is yours too. If you lose that email, you can ask us to resend it. If a delivery company offers you an interview through ORTOO, we send the offer and a reminder by text. Delivery companies can also message you through ORTOO rather than from their own number. We store those messages so we can show them to you and deal with any complaint, and every one carries a link you can use to stop messages from that company or leave ORTOO altogether.
If you choose to add a DBS check
This is optional. If you give us a DBS share code, we hold the code and your certificate number, encrypted, only until a member of our team has viewed the result on the government's own service, and for no more than 72 hours. After that we keep a yes/no that it was confirmed, and the date.
If you only have a paper certificate, we keep the issue date printed on it and a scrambled form of the certificate number that cannot be turned back into the number, which we only use to spot the same certificate declared by more than one driver, plus a yes/no that you declared it. We never keep the result itself or any police record information.
Companies see only the yes/no and the date, never the code, the number or the certificate. You can withdraw this at any time by asking us to erase your details.
Why we collect it
If you finish signing up, one reason: to share your details with member delivery companies looking for drivers in your area, so they can contact you about driving work. You give us consent for exactly this when you tick the box at signup. The consent wording names this data sharing, and we record the date and the version of the wording you agreed to.
Who we share your details with
Member delivery companies looking for drivers in your area, and no one else. They see your name, phone number, email, postcode, and your signup answers, plus the yes/no and date if you added a DBS check. Which companies these are can change over time as new companies join ORTOO. We don't sell your data. A named list of the companies who can see your details is available on request: email hello@ortoo.co.uk.
If you want regular work, or only drive a car
Some people tell us they want regular employed work rather than self-employed driving, or that they only drive a car. If you ask us to keep in touch, we keep the details you gave us so we can contact you about work that might suit you. You give us consent for this when you ask, and we record the date and the version of the wording you agreed to.
We don't share these details with delivery companies, and we don't pass you to an employer automatically. To stop hearing from us, email hello@ortoo.co.uk at any time. We keep these details for no longer than the 12 months set out below.
Where your data lives
We store your details in a database in London and run ORTOO on servers in the UK. We send your texts and emails through providers in the EU. The companies that help us run ORTOO, and what each one handles, are:
- Neon: our database, in London. Everything you give us
- Vercel: hosting, in London. Runs the site
- Twilio: sends our texts from Ireland. Your phone number and the text itself
- Resend: sends our emails from the EU. Your email address and the email itself
- Upstash: stops abuse of the site by counting requests. Your IP address, for minutes
- Anthropic: an assistant that helps delivery companies plan who to call, in the US. It sees a reference number, your region and your signup bands. It never sees your name, number or email
- CookieScript and Google: cookie consent, analytics and advertising, only with your consent. See Cookies below
How long we keep it
12 months from when you register, then your details are deleted. If you don't finish registering, and we didn't stop you at a question, we keep your details for 30 days (90 if you confirmed your mobile number), then remove them. If you want them gone sooner, just ask.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@ortoo.co.uk and we will sort it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
No automated decisions
We don't let a computer decide whether you get an interview or a job. A human at the delivery company always makes that call.
Cookies
We use a consent tool to manage cookies. The essential ones that keep the site working are always on. With your consent, we also use analytics and advertising cookies to measure and improve our recruitment campaigns. You can change your choice any time from the cookie settings.
